Aunt Minnie's Attic
Skillet Cabbage
1 medium head cabbage
¼ cup butter
2 slices raw bacon
¼ cup water
Put all ingredients in skillet. Mix well and cook slowly until tender. Stir now and then. Serves 4.
Orange Glazed Carrots
1 pound carrots, peeled and sliced
1 cup orange juice
¼ cup melted butter
1 tablespoon sugar
Cover and simmer all ingredients in saucepan about 15 minutes. Uncover and cook until liquid is absorbed. Serves 6.
Stewed Green Beans
2 slices bacon
2 (16 ounce) cans green beans
1 medium onion
1 (16 ounce) cans stewed tomatoes
Fry bacon until crisp. Put green beans and tomatoes in large pot. Add onion (chopped or sliced) and crumbled bacon (with bacon grease, if desired). Bring to boil and cook until juice is reduced to half. Serves 6.
